What is Business Coaching?

Business coaching is a new phenomenon that has developed into a movement in the corporate world, which facilitates behavioural and psychological changes in business leaders to better their managerial styles. The basic aim of business coaching is to make business owners aware of their impact on others, learn how to motivate employees and to create a positive team-working environment.

There are various elements to business coaching, some of which are mentioned below.

Coaching Skills
Instructions for skill development help make business owners learn specific abilities and perspectives for management and relationship coordination. New responsibilities require innovative tactics to handle new situations, which have not encountered before. Skills coaching session is usually spread over a period of several months, and best done as the need arises.

Coaching for Development
This type of coaching caters to the characteristics and competencies of the individual and helps enhance them. It explores the persons existing strengths and modifies them according to new, bigger challenges that development brings. This includes refining their listening skills, cultivating strategic planning, improving time-management, dealing with fears, being receptive to suggestions and changes and encouraging a healthy teamwork approach. This is crucial for startups, or restructuring or re-engineering the organisation.

Coaching for Performance
Performance is evaluated based on personal capacity as well as the team feedback.  Running a successful business means “PEOPLE” not merely promotion, profit or sales.  Positive rapport with your team and customers is key. Performance is not rated just on work completion rate, but on the team spirit.  Personal evaluation is just as important as business targets.

Executive Coaching
How to be strong in handling criticism, how to be confident (inside and out!), be motivational (inside and out!) and support others. How to plan strategy as well as the emotional robustness to handle mistakes  (we all fail, it is how we handle failure that counts). Transformational Coaching
Transformational coaching is more intimate in its approach and is successful only when the trust between the coach and coachee is well established. It explores aspects of the coachee’s behaviour which may hinder their effective performance.  Fears, phobias, unhealthy addictions or habits using a methodological strategy to move on from them. The coach identifies the limiting behavioral patterns and uses NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) tools and a plan to overcome them steadily and effectively is developed for the individual. Transformational learning is actually fun as well as freeing!
